One piece of advice, is to have great sound effects, and definitely have music!

If you're not a composer or you don't have someone to custom compose your music, and you're having to rely on royalty free music such as that from incompetech.com, it may be hard to find music just the right length.

Studs up, tenny! I use that site for most of the music in my videos.
Here's a tip of advice: set a framerate! I used to not have a defined framerate. I just stretched the picutres out as long as they needed to be. With a framerate, you can determine how long your videos will be and have a better looking video and easier capture.

I have heard of Bricks in Motion, and I will probably join their forum when THAC comes around this year (THAC is the Twenty-four Hour Animation Contest).

I haven't found any problems with BiM, but ok. I participated in THAC 11 last December.
