Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
I don't know for sure, but Funcom is a big enough company they could easily have there own engine.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
Indeed they could, but I don't know since their game engines have been used for more realistic games, whether they would want to take such a tremendous step in porting it for LEGO gaming. It would take much more time and quite a bit of tackling down. From what I saw in the E3 demo, it appeared to have quite similar look to Chima Online.

Maybe they are using the engine from that game...

Yeah, well if so...sadly it would be Unity, don't get me wrong, I have nothing bad with Unity, I am even trying to use it for a game my friend and I are working on, I just feel, LEGO could do sooo much more with expanding the engine.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
The answer is that they are using their own DreamWorld Engine that they used for all the games from Funcom.

^ Ditto
Unity was used for Chima Online, and a lot of LEGO's mobile games are Unity, but Funcom isn't using Unity.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
That's good to hear. I've built a game with unity and my friends want me to help with a ge they're making, so I know how unity works and I would be glad to play something that I don't know how it works.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
It wouldn't necessarily be "cheap" if they used Unity.
It just matters how they use it. but that is besides the point, they ain't using it anyways

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
As a matter of fact, Funcom released a report in February and I didn't know it. Check out the news article:
http://legouniversenews.wordpress.com/2014/03/18/LEGO-minifigures-online-february-2014-report/
There are very few people I know who actually got into beta. I just happen to be one of them. Fortunately, they said they will be accepting new beta testers soon.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
So Funcom has heard feedback from beta testers about the UI and they plan to revise it… hopefully a different control mechanism than Chima Online.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
In my opinion, any game that can be played on a mobile device, isn't worth playing. I usually shows that there isn't enough content for it to be played solely on a computer.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
Well, I kinda like some games that can be played on those, (I use a Laptop, Frequently! but I know what you mean. )
Roblox & Legends of Chima online are a few examples.

By mobile device I meant things like tabblets and phones, not laptops. Chima is an ideal example!

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
I agree, Unit. LU couldn't have been played on a tablet, because you have to use your keyboard to battle and build a lot more and go exploring. The slow-point-and-click method of moving cannot get you around Nexus Tower very quickly...

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
Very true! If anything, I would enjoy a game with a more challenging UI verses a more stripped down one. But if this is the future of LEGO games...

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
Much more precision, and faster movement. Also, you can have multiple attacks/abilities. Will you get to pick your first Minifig in the game or is it randomly assigned?

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
I got a LEGO club magazine earlier this week and here's an excerpt from page 14:
Is this true? Or have I gotten the LEGO club magazine a little too early? It's the May/June issue.
LEGO Minifigures Online is in Open Beta testing on the PC right now. We're inviting LEGO Club members to come and play it before it's finished, and share your feedback with the design team so they can make it even better!

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
Oooh, I must ask; Funcom mentioned there being a poll in that magazine for the exclusive LEGO club minifigure, what are the options?tenny1028 wrote:I got a LEGO club magazine earlier this week and here's an excerpt from page 14:LEGO Minifigures Online is in Open Beta testing on the PC right now. I'm just interested because this will be the first exclusive minifigure we've heard of.
