Would you like a Micro Transaction system in LU?
Microtransactions
What would you think if LEGO Universe chose a micro transaction business model?
-------
Personally, if that ever happens, I am both quitting and starting a protest. And I am not kidding.
I've heard what microtransactional games do to kids. And parents. The parents awake one day to find their credit card was charged with over $1000. And suddenly the kid has the coolest gear. Gee, I wonder how THAT happened?
Seriously. Don't do it LEGO.
Look at games like Club Penguin and Pirates Online. They did just fine without microtransactions.

Doesn't sound like a good idea, but what is micro transaction anyway?

You pay real money for virtual items... individually.FM_Hobino wrote:Doesn't sound like a good idea, but what is micro transaction anyway?

Oh, I see. Thank you. That's not a good idea, I agree. It promotes users who as money and the ones that can't afford paying can never get the cool items.
LEGO, please don't do that!

Well i was kind of hoping for something like if LU sets came out, that with a certain set you can a certain exclusive item! But i would totally hate for there to be micro-transactions. I mean it's a kids game for peet sake.

Re: Microtransactions
There are websites out there for purchasing in-game money with real money, for all kinds of MMOGs. I asked someone on one of those websites, and they said that LEGO Universe will be added in the future. I wonder what the DEVS will say about that...

That had better be speculation. If LEGO really wants that...maestro35 wrote:There are websites out there for purchasing in-game money with real money, for all kinds of MMOGs. Re: Microtransactions
Hmmm. It's a KID's game! NOT AN ADULT MMO! I mean prople would judge other people by how much stuff they had, and they would know how rich/poor they were in real life. Bad Idea, LEGO! All the rich people would be popular.

That makes it seem worse! I sure hope this doesn't happen. They kind of have already done it, but not in a serious way. By buying game time, you get in game rewards.
They already make us pay for the game. They aren't (can't) going to add that.

Re: Microtransactions
Guys, they ARE bringing microtransactions to LU. In fact, they already sort of HAVE! Take a look at the Subscription models, they have EXCLUSIVE items, that you have to PAY for to get! That's MICROTRANSACTIONS Take a look at LEGO Club, you have to RENEW your membership by paying $20 to get to an area inside LU. The point? It's a MICROTRANSACTION. Theres no point in complaining, because what's done is done.

Re: Microtransactions
Yes, they already have Microtransactions. It's exactly what PAH said! Oh! I've got an idea of what the microtransactions might be like:
Kid: I want to buy a coin card, dad!
Dad: OK, son what is a coin card?
Kid: A coin card is a card that you put real money on and it converts the money into coins so I can get cool in-game items!
Dad: OK. (At check-out) ...And here's my son's coin card. (Dad pulls out cash)
Employee: Sorry, I'll have to see your credit card number.
Dad: Why?
Employee: Because with these Lego Universe Coin Cards, you have to pay every time your kid goes over the coin limit. So, that way, it'll max out your credit card!
That's how a "Coin Card" would work. Say, I wanted to buy the Bat Lord suit in LU, it costs 4,895 coins. The kid only has 3,000 coins. He buys it anyway! On credit. Now the parent has a virtual, computer generated, chunk of pixels charged to his credit card. At first, it's not very much money, but then the kid keeps buying stuff on credit, and more and more money is charged to a credit card. Now it's gotten out of hand. The kid buys anything he wants, because there's no limit on a credit card...until the bill comes. That would make parents angry and LU would loose a lot...A LOT A LOT of costumers and money. So there you have it, LEGO! if you use microtransactions to make money, you'll just loose more that you had before.

Re: Microtransactions
Usually microtransactions dont work like that.
You would pay something like this.
$1 - 5,000 coins
$3 - 25,000 coins
$5 - 75,000 coins
$10 - 150,000 coins
You would pay once per coin thing.

Re: Microtransactions
1. LEGO Club is free.PAH wrote:Guys, they ARE bringing microtransactions to LU. In fact, they already sort of HAVE! 2. That sort of microtransaction is fine. You buy a product and have access to a few exclusive items. What ticks me off is when you pay real money and only get one or two virtual items. As it stands you pay $10 a month and get everything. It's when they make it all free and charge for currency, features, and individual items that I get ticked off. Such as paying for gold. Or paying for a small weapons pack. Or paying for models for your property. At least if they do something such as LEGO toys you get physical models. Unless you unlock the whole game, paying real money for pixels annoys the fire outta me, and THAT is what I would protest.
Though if that is the microtransactional process being referred to (the method of buying a LEGO set and getting extra items on the side) then I welcome it with open arms.

Re: Microtransactions
Who voted "I would prefer it"!?!? LEMME STRING 'EM UP! JK. The rewards they have are fine, since you are actually paying for game time, and those are just small bonuses. Paying real money for fake money is just criminal, though, IMO.

Like I said earlier, you pay REAL, HARD EARNED, PAPER MONEY for just A BUNCH OF PIXELS! Bad Idea, Lego!

Re: Microtransactions
Lego could implement that they wanted to.....
Alot of other games have it (paying real oney for fake money). And while I wouldn't pay anything for in-game money, other people would... LEGO might do it if they see it as a way to make extra money.....
