You pick a team of 3 minifigures to start with. Teams are pre-selected.unitx10 wrote:Will do. Do you get to pick your first minifig?

In my opinion, I feel it kinda pushy and silly to make users pay to get chat features. I mean, some people wouldn't have any other way of contact..

LU had a paid only chat box.
I just played for the first time. When do you get minifig #4?

You only start with 3 minifigures.unitx10 wrote:LU had a paid only chat box.

You'll have to go out and find the rest by fighting enemies, doing dungeons, or using diamonds on them.

LU was a pay to play game for the majority of it's time though.unitx10 wrote:LU had a paid only chat box.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
So someone gave me another PC to play with, this time it has Windows and I haven't installed Linux on it, but I kinda don't want to because I already have a linux and it's not very useful for me to have two. However, this PC is really slow so if I install ubuntu on it, and wipe the original hard drive from it, it'll be faster, but if I don't, I can play LEGO Minifigures online.
It's running Windows XP, so a big threat of viruses and whatnot, stuff that I'm not used to because I have a Mac and a Linux.
What do you suggest I do?

Well, that's completely up to you. But I suggest installing anti-virus software. And being extremely careful with what you visit. The web is full of tricks. I highly suggest getting Malwarebytes. It's free and it saved our Windows XP when it almost got completely wiped from viruses.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
Like Crash said, get an Anti-virus. Microsoft Security Essentials isn't officially supported on Windows XP anymore, but it seems to be updating the virus definitions on our old XP machine. Malware Bytes Anti-malware is good too. Be sure to uninstall un-need programs to speed it up and try not to use Internet Explorer (use Firefox instead). And always be careful where you go on the internet. If you're using Google or something and see a site you haven't been to before, instead of doing it on that machine, look it up on your other computer and if you have to download something, put it on a flash drive.

Well I already installed Ubuntu on it also, but I'm not going to use it. Even with Ubuntu installed it still takes forever launch programs, but using them is not a problem.

Ubuntu is good, and it's very light on computer hardware. But compatibility is always an issue. I hope you got your problem with launching it fixed.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
You can use the "Advanced Installer" instead of the regular one. The "Advanced Installer" is a .exe file, and the regular installer is some .application downloader installer.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
Yes, LU had a paid-only chat box, but the LU Free to Play was only a demo, and made no pretenses about it really. This game seems to claim that it's completely Free to Play, plus it doesn't seem to offer anything with subscription, besides chat, that would really be worthwhile... There just aren't enough worthwhile things to do in this game to make it worth purchasing any more than a one-month subscription besides the perks.unitx10 wrote:LU had a paid only chat box.

(Also, LU had the Speedchats system, so basic communication was still possible.)
If you want what I think of the game, I think I'll go ahead and quote an LMB post I wrote a little while ago.
...And that's not even mentioning any of my issues with the gameplay that DOES exist.Me (Mvp333/Toatanu) wrote:
This game does not represent LEGO.
LEGO is about building, not running around smashing every single thing in sight. It's about creativity and challenge, not mindless, repeated clicking on things to smash them to bits. It's about creating your own custom characters and stories, not selecting pre-made, static characters to play with. It's about finding new combinations, new techniques; not just selecting the same thing everyone else has because it's the quickest way to smash enemies. It's is about being unique, not being one of a thousand Cyclopes and Plumbers named "Electron" or "Heroic." LEGO is about whatever you want it to be about. About having a choice to do or not do whatever you want. If you buy a set, you don't have to follow the instructions, you can try and build something completely different and unique; if you fail, you can always go back, disassemble, and try out what the instructions say.
LEGO Minifigures Online, however, is not about any of these things. You're forced into a linear path, with fixed, unchangeable characters, and there isn't much (if any) flexibility. There's nothing to do but repeatedly smash the same enemies over and over to fill up a bar or collect little tokens of various currencies. If you want to build something unique, nope, there's no way to do that. If you want to make a custom Minifigure likeness of yourself or the craziest-looking guy in the world... nope, you can't do that either.
LEGO Universe wasn't perfect, but it certainly did symbolize LEGO far better than this game, or Legends of Chima online, ever did. If you wanted to take a break from smashing enemies for gear and tokens, you could always hunt for missing Flags in the various worlds, go hang out with your friends in the Nimbus Plaza, test your unique new gear combination at the Nexus Tower Sentinel area's training dummy challenge, see how long you can last in a Survival Challenge, or, if building is more to your liking, you could go to your very own Property and allow your imagination to run free.

Re: LEGO Minifigures Online
My grandparents have a Windows XP, and I ran the advanced installer there, and then it said Microsoft .NET was required. So I installed .NET, and then it said that LMO only works on Windows 7 & 8.

Oh yea, it uses DirectX 11 (I think). Is there still an exe in the files that says something like DX 6 version? There was in early beta...

Yea, sorry, I meant to say DX9, not 6.
So they removed it, huh? Well, it figures.

Which launched automatically the DirectX 11 client, at another point. Good for you! I haven't even opened LMO since it launched because the installation broke and I'm too lazy to fix it.: P
