Official LUNF Summer Contest!

Hey guys! It's summer, and you all know what that means! It means that there's no school (maybe ), there's lots of sunshine, and you most likely have some free time! Well, since it's summer, the staff of LUNF have put together a LEGO picture contest! Take a picture of your favorite minifigure! But here's the twist: It has to be outside!

You heard it! You will need to set up your minifigure outside doing anything you want! (That is, as long as it is appropriate. ) You can even include more than one minifigure, or a whole army of minifigures! Another great thing to do is create something out of LEGO bricks to complement your minifigure's photograph. Remember, the cooler your picture is, the more chance you have of winning! Make sure it tells a story. :DFor example, you could re-create a movie poster, or make your minifig meet a giant dog (even though that's totally not cliche. )

Here are some tips on how to get a good picture:
• Lighting! You need proper lighting. If your scene is going to be at night, you will probably need an indirect lamp nearby to give a good lighting effect.
• Focus! You need focus! Focus on the main part of your scene. Focusing on LEGO is hard, hard, that is, unless you use the Macro setting on your camera. It will allow you to focus on things close up.
• Quality! Try to get a good quality photo! Cell-phone camera quality won't cut it.



When? Where? How?

The contest will be held from NOW (May 13, 2013) to May 31, 2013
--June 30, 2013!
Once you have taken your picture, you can upload it anywhere (such as Flickr, or PasteAll). Just be sure to embed it here on a post in this topic!

NOTE: Post-processing IS allowed, and even encouraged!   Examples: Correcting shading, re-coloring, image frames, etc. (A good post-processing website is Ribbet!

The contest ends on May 31st. You just have to post your picture here. You can host the picture on Wordpress, Flickr, PasteAll (You don't need an account for that one) or even click the little "Host and Image" button here on LUNF! (The one above the reply box that looks like this: ).

Ultimate! Last few questions, what will the pictures be judged on, and will the grand prize winner get to pick the minifig he gets or will it be nealybealys choice?

The pictures will be judged based on how good the picture is. How good a story it tells, quality, originality, etc.

Nealybealy already has the minifig picked out, so it's a surprise! (I don't even know what it is yet! )

Well, I have (finally) had good weather and after several different pictures, minifigs (and the occasional dinosaur wandering through the scene), I decided on submitting this piece. Hope it makes someone laugh

Okay, so I got some great photos a couple of days ago, but I had a REALLY hard time picking which one to enter, so after much deliberation I have decided to enter this one!

Very nice, unitx10! I like the story and concept.

Okay, here is my entry to the contest, I call the photo, "Out of Season".
While taking peaceful picnic near a herd of sheep in Nimbus Park, a minifigure was just starting to bite into his Healing Drumstick topped with some Tuff Buff Sauce when he began to hear large thumps come towards him. Then, as it passed over the hill, he saw it in all of its greebled horror...
